A Word from Our President
When I first attended a BWC meeting a little over six years ago, I really wasn’t too sure what to expect. My life, to that point, hadn’t permitted such luxuries as joining clubs and other such “me” things so I was a true novice walking in the door. What I found was simply amazing – a very warm, friendly, and welcoming group of women.
The monthly general meetings became something to look forward to – interesting gatherings with speakers’ talks running the gamut of subjects from notarial matters, seasonal decoration making, genealogical research to a discussion with a best-selling mystery author (all very cool), followed by coffee and cake – a great way to get to know my fellow members better.
I then joined the Book Club and became entrenched in discussions/interpretation/impressions of our diverse selection of monthly books. Those evenings have been and will always be very special to me since where else can one chat about, even debate, great stories, fictional or non-fiction. It is so interesting to listen to the different views – “gee, I didn’t read it that way” – or – “ ahhh, I obviously missed that point”.
I also joined several of the Breakfast Club and Supper Club (now Lunch Bunch) events and, really, what can be nicer than having a good meal with a large group of friends!
As I am not a card player, I cannot give a firsthand account of our Bridge, Canasta, and Mah-jong groups other than to say that all of the games have a devoted group of members and that a good time is always had.
Then, of course, is our weekly Walk and Talk group. We all enjoy getting out for a stride around the City or in the trails in the West Island.
So, six years on, I couldn’t be happier that I walked in that door. If you would like to join us, we would be very pleased to welcome you.
